2018 Chevrolet Tahoe — single-cylinder misfire comes and goes — second opinion before I spend money

PistonDIYer475Community StarterMar 4, 20262018 Chevrolet Tahoe LTNew Jersey
2018 Chevrolet Tahoe LT, about 132,500 miles. A cylinder-specific misfire code appeared after one rough start, then cleared and the engine feels normal. Plugs are not very old. Would you swap coils, inspect plugs, look at injector data, or wait for it to return? I would rather test this logically than replace parts.

This is usually cheaper to test than to guess. Move a coil or plug on the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. Save the big job until that test fails. Stop there until you know. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

Asking because it changes the advice: A pressure test beats staring at a dry driveway if the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe is losing coolant with no puddle. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. I keep a notes app thread for this now.

Cleared nothing. I want service to see the alert on the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe first. Parking it somewhere I can hear it better next time.

Ask what changed right before it started. If a shop can't duplicate it on the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. This is from a 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe in New Jersey with 132,500 miles. Happy to compare notes if your setup is different. Next check is the cheap one I can do in a driveway.

Intermittent stuff lies if you only catch it once. Write temp, speed, and in-gear vs coast when the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe does it — then decide on parts. That's the branch I'd chase this week. On “single-cylinder misfire comes and goes — second,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. This is the filter I use when the thread starts repeating itself. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

I'd want a measurement, not a hunch. Write temp, speed, and in-gear vs coast when the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe does it — then decide on parts. That's the branch I'd chase this week. Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. That's my plan before I call anyone.
