2018 Honda Civic — buying a car 1,200 miles away without seeing it

A hard-to-find spec is several states away. Dealer has provided video and history, but I have not seen it in person. What is the best remote-buy checklist before sending money? I am trying to get the facts straight before spending money. What would you check next?

Get the messy numbers in writing first. Call your insurer in San Diego before you fall in love with the 2018 Honda Civic. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “buying a car 1,200 miles away without,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Just my two cents from doing this recently. I asked for the buyer’s order in email, not a text.

If I were shopping this, if one piece looks too good on the 2018 Honda Civic, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Just my two cents from doing this recently. This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.

Don't send a deposit on a phone quote. I would not wire money until I've seen the 2018 Honda Civic and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. Make the next action something you can finish this week. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

Treat this like a math problem, not a vibe. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2018 Honda Civic numbers without them. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. I'd rather be boring and correct. I'll post OTD once I have two apples-to-apples sheets.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. If they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2018 Honda Civic price probably got worse. Then the comparison gets honest. This is from a 2018 Honda Civic in San Diego with 1,200 miles. Take it or leave it — that's what I'd do. Calling insurance in the morning before I reply to the desk.

Get the messy numbers in writing first. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2018 Honda Civic numbers without them. If they balk, that's your answer. On “buying a car 1,200 miles away without,” that was the fork that mattered for me. That's the sequence I'd use. I screenshotted the quote for later.
