2018 Volvo S90 — seller says lien is paid but title still shows lender

2018 Volvo S90 T6, about 59,000 miles. Seller says the loan was recently paid off but paperwork has not caught up. I am willing to wait, but what proof would you require before giving any money? I am in Sacramento.

Quick add on that: A second data point from another 2018 Volvo S90 owner helps more than a generic diagnosis. I'd do that before spending real money. Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.
