2019 Mazda Mazda3 — no crank with full dash power, then it starts later

FlatSixDad488Community StarterJul 4, 20262019 Mazda Mazda3 PreferredLas Vegas
Twice I have had full lights and accessories but no crank. After waiting a few minutes it starts normally. Battery terminals look clean. What would you want to measure during the actual failure? I am in Las Vegas. I am trying not to assume the first explanation I see online.

Intermittent stuff lies if you only catch it once. Swap the cheap/easy piece first on the 2019 Mazda Mazda3 and see if the fault moves. Save the big job until that test fails. On “no crank with full dash power, then,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2019 Mazda Mazda3 in Las Vegas. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. Climate here is different, so treat that as a local data point. Happens in gear, not in park, for what that's worth.

Ask what changed right before it started. Get a real battery/charging test on the 2019 Mazda Mazda3, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. This is from a 2019 Mazda Mazda3 in Las Vegas. Stop there until you know. A day of patience here is cheaper than a wrong part. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

Asking because it changes the advice: Get a real battery/charging test on the 2019 Mazda Mazda3, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. Save the big job until that test fails. Take it or leave it — that's what I'd do. Worth doing even if the car feels fine right now. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

I wouldn't throw parts yet. A pressure test beats staring at a dry driveway if the 2019 Mazda Mazda3 is losing coolant with no puddle. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. Stop there until you know. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

OP update: scanned the 2019 Mazda Mazda3 again and still only have the one pending code, no new lights. I refuse to clear codes until someone else sees them.

I wouldn't throw parts yet. If a shop can't duplicate it on the 2019 Mazda Mazda3, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. That's the branch I'd chase this week. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. I've seen both outcomes, which is why I'd test instead of assume. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

That's a good start, but I wouldn't stop there. Two 2019 Mazda Mazda3s can feel identical and have different causes, so measure before you copy someone else's repair. Save the big job until that test fails. Just my two cents from doing this recently. Make the next action something you can finish this week. I'd rather pay for diagnosis than a second guess-repair.

I'd want a measurement, not a hunch. Write temp, speed, and in-gear vs coast when the 2019 Mazda Mazda3 does it — then decide on parts. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

Agree — and I'd add this: If a shop can't duplicate it on the 2019 Mazda Mazda3, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. Do that first. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

I went back under the 2019 Mazda Mazda3 and it only happens after a heat soak, not on a cold start. Not interested in a five-hour wait for a shrug.

Log the conditions before you spend. Get a real battery/charging test on the 2019 Mazda Mazda3, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. On “no crank with full dash power, then,” that was the fork that mattered for me. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. Video is ugly but it shows the hesitation.
