2019 Ram 2500 — blower works on some speeds but not others

TruckShopperCommunity StarterMay 24, 20262019 Ram 2500 CumminsChicago
Cabin fan works normally on certain settings and then cuts out or changes speed unpredictably on others. Before replacing the blower motor, what should be checked in the resistor/controller circuit? I am in Chicago.

I wouldn't throw parts yet. Swap the cheap/easy piece first on the 2019 Ram 2500 and see if the fault moves. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. Only after sitting overnight so far.

I'd want a measurement, not a hunch. Two 2019 Ram 2500s can feel identical and have different causes, so measure before you copy someone else's repair. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. That's the sequence I'd use. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

Quick add on that: A pressure test beats staring at a dry driveway if the 2019 Ram 2500 is losing coolant with no puddle. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. That's the sequence I'd use. I'd rather be boring and correct. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

This is usually cheaper to test than to guess. Swap the cheap/easy piece first on the 2019 Ram 2500 and see if the fault moves. Save the big job until that test fails. If you share a photo of the worksheet, easier to sanity-check. Not interested in a five-hour wait for a shrug.

Start with the test that can prove you wrong. Capture voltage while the 2019 Ram 2500 is actually failing — after it restarts you've lost the clue. Save the big job until that test fails. This is from a 2019 Ram 2500 in Chicago. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' Worth doing even if the car feels fine right now. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

Intermittent stuff lies if you only catch it once. Capture voltage while the 2019 Ram 2500 is actually failing — after it restarts you've lost the clue. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. On “blower works on some speeds but not,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2019 Ram 2500 in Chicago. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. If that fails I'll eat the diagnostic fee.
