2020 BMW M2 — how much reconditioning is worth doing before listing? — California owner question

V8Gal322Community StarterJul 27, 20262020 BMW M2 CompetitionCalifornia
Car needs tires soon and has a few cosmetic issues. I am not sure whether spending money first will return more in the sale price. What repairs or detailing usually pay back and what should just be disclosed? I am in California.

The trap is a pretty payment hiding a worse car price. I would not wire money until I've seen the 2020 BMW M2 and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. That's the part that actually changes the decision. That's the whole play. If they only talk monthly I'm walking.

Quick add on that: A written buyer’s order on the 2020 BMW M2 is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” If they balk, that's your answer. On “how much reconditioning is worth doing before,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Do that first. I asked for the buyer’s order in email, not a text.

Coming back with numbers — insurance in California changed the 2020 BMW M2 comparison more than the sale price did. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

Don't send a deposit on a phone quote. I would not wire money until I've seen the 2020 BMW M2 and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. Not wiring anything in the meantime.

Hard-won lesson from my last deal: Call your insurer in California before you fall in love with the 2020 BMW M2. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “how much reconditioning is worth doing before,” that was the fork that mattered for me. That's the whole play. This is the filter I use when the thread starts repeating itself. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

Insurance and tax belong in the comparison, not as a surprise. Call your insurer in California before you fall in love with the 2020 BMW M2. If they balk, that's your answer. On “how much reconditioning is worth doing before,” that was the fork that mattered for me. That's the sequence I'd use. If GAP is bundled I'm making them unbundle it.

The trap is a pretty payment hiding a worse car price. In California, insurance quotes flipped a 2020 BMW M2 comparison for me more than the sale price did. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. No need to make it theatrical. If they only talk monthly I'm walking.

If I were shopping this, i would not wire money until I've seen the 2020 BMW M2 and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. This is from a 2020 BMW M2 in California. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. Worth doing even if the car feels fine right now. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

Compare apples to apples or you'll get spun. A written buyer’s order on the 2020 BMW M2 is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. That's the sequence I'd use. I'd rather be boring and correct. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

Don't send a deposit on a phone quote. Two 2020 BMW M2 quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. Had a similar mess a couple years ago and that's what finally sorted it. Not wiring anything in the meantime.
