2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTZ 6.2 — silverado light-throttle shudder: engine or transmission?

PistonScout33Community StarterMar 2, 20262021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTZ 6.2Michigan
At steady speed with light throttle I get a vibration that feels almost like driving over fine rumble strips. It disappears if I accelerate. What's the cleanest way to separate wheel/tire issues, cylinder-deactivation behavior and converter/transmission shudder? I'm in Michigan. Appreciate any ideas on what to check first.

I'd want a measurement, not a hunch. A pressure test beats staring at a dry driveway if the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is losing coolant with no puddle. Save the big job until that test fails. Was this after sitting overnight? This is the version I'd tell a friend.

This is usually cheaper to test than to guess. Capture voltage while the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is actually failing — after it restarts you've lost the clue. That's the branch I'd chase this week. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

I went back under the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and it only happens after a heat soak, not on a cold start. This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.

Log the conditions before you spend. Write temp, speed, and in-gear vs coast when the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 does it — then decide on parts. That's the branch I'd chase this week. On “silverado light-throttle shudder: engine or transmission,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Did the worksheet show tax yet? Not interested in a five-hour wait for a shrug.

Tried a second charger / second scan and the story on the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 didn't change. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

If it were in my driveway, a pressure test beats staring at a dry driveway if the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is losing coolant with no puddle. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' Doing the boring step first on purpose.

I'd push back a little: Swap the cheap/easy piece first on the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and see if the fault moves. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. Parts cannon is a personality type I try to avoid. Your commute and mine probably aren't the same, but the test still applies. I'd rather pay for diagnosis than a second guess-repair.

Start with the test that can prove you wrong. Move a coil or plug on the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. This is from a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 in Michigan. Any freeze-frame data saved? Checking again after work.

If it were in my driveway, get a real battery/charging test on the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. Save the big job until that test fails. Stop there until you know. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

It did silverado light-throttle shudder: engine or transmission twice this week, both times after sitting. No change in mileage feel. No warning lights, which is why I'm documenting it.

Intermittent stuff lies if you only catch it once. A pressure test beats staring at a dry driveway if the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is losing coolant with no puddle. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. On “silverado light-throttle shudder: engine or transmission,” that was the fork that mattered for me. That's the whole play. Parking it somewhere I can hear it better next time.

I wouldn't throw parts yet. Loaded-suspension checks on the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 catch play that a wheels-hanging inspection misses. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. Do that first. Heat soak after errands is the other window.
