2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 — two nearly identical cars are priced $4k apart

CommuterSeller940Community StarterOct 31, 20252021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTZ 6.2Connecticut
Same year, trim and similar mileage, but two listings are thousands apart. One is CPO and one is not. How would you quantify condition, warranty, history and dealer reputation?

Title status is the whole conversation. Bill of sale, VIN, odometer, and names matching the title — I'd want all four on the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. Then you'll know the next fork. Have you gotten a second quote in writing? PPI guy I use is booked until next week, so I'm waiting.

I'd treat this like cash with a paper trail. Independent PPI on the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is cheap insurance versus a seller who “already had a friend look at it.” That's where I'd start. On “two nearly identical cars are priced $4k,” that was the fork that mattered for me. That's the sequence I'd use. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

Title status is the whole conversation. A rushed deposit before you can inspect the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is enough reason to walk. I'd do that before spending real money. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' Sleeping on the number either way.

Private-party deals fail on paperwork, not vibes. A rushed deposit before you can inspect the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is enough reason to walk. That's where I'd start. Happy to compare notes if your setup is different. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

Title status is the whole conversation. If the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 still shows a lien, coordinate payoff with the lender before any cash changes hands. That's where I'd start. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

Private-party deals fail on paperwork, not vibes. Meet at a bank or dealer title office for the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, not a parking lot at night. I'd do that before spending real money. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. I'll update if anything new shows up.

Don't get cute with the meetup or the payment. Meet at a bank or dealer title office for the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, not a parking lot at night. That's where I'd start. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

Time, temperature, and whether it's in gear are the notes that actually help a shop. Not trying to scare you — just skip the expensive first guess. Going to re-read the worksheet tonight.

I'd push back a little: A rushed deposit before you can inspect the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is enough reason to walk. I'd do that before spending real money. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. If the story changes I'll post the new data.

Not letting add-ons ride along because everyone does.

OP update: I got two written quotes on the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and the out-the-door gap is bigger than the ads made it look. I screenshotted the quote for later.

That's a good start, but I wouldn't stop there. Independent PPI on the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is cheap insurance versus a seller who “already had a friend look at it.” I'd do that before spending real money. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. Make the next action something you can finish this week. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

This is from a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 in Connecticut. No need to make it theatrical. Your commute and mine probably aren't the same, but the test still applies. If they only talk monthly I'm walking.

I hear you, though I'd still want a second check. Independent PPI on the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is cheap insurance versus a seller who “already had a friend look at it.” I'd do that before spending real money. On “two nearly identical cars are priced $4k,” that was the fork that mattered for me. That's the sequence I'd use. This is the filter I use when the thread starts repeating itself. That's my plan before I call anyone.

Quick add on that: Independent PPI on the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is cheap insurance versus a seller who “already had a friend look at it.” I'd do that before spending real money. On “two nearly identical cars are priced $4k,” that was the fork that mattered for me. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' If your situation is the opposite, ignore me. Wrote this up on my lunch break.
