2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 — windshield replaced — does camera calibration matter?

2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTZ 6.2, about 21,500 miles. A new windshield is installed and there is no dash warning, but the shop recommends camera calibration. If the manufacturer procedure calls for it, would you do it even when lane-assist functions appear normal? I am in Raleigh.

Owner notes beat generic advice here. On the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 in Raleigh, I'd fix the thing you'll notice every day before chasing spec-sheet extras. I'd do that before spending real money. On “windshield replaced — does camera calibration matter,” that was the fork that mattered for me. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

I'd keep this practical. Verify the cheap/easy branch on the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 before a big repair or a big spend. That's where I'd start. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. I've seen both outcomes, which is why I'd test instead of assume. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

Climate here is different, so treat that as a local data point. Wrote this up on my lunch break.
