2021 Hyundai Palisade — dealer keeps discussing monthly payment instead of OTD

TowTraveler350Community StarterJul 17, 20262021 Hyundai Palisade LimitedCharlotte
2021 Hyundai Palisade Limited, about 66,000 miles. Every time I ask for sale price and fees, the conversation goes back to monthly payment. I am bringing my own financing. Is there any reason not to insist on a full buyer order before going in?

Don't send a deposit on a phone quote. If they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2021 Hyundai Palisade price probably got worse. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. Just my two cents from doing this recently. Make the next action something you can finish this week. If the title is messy I'm out, full stop.

Insurance and tax belong in the comparison, not as a surprise. A written buyer’s order on the 2021 Hyundai Palisade is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “dealer keeps discussing monthly payment instead of,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Happy to compare notes if your setup is different. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

Not convinced that's the whole story. If they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2021 Hyundai Palisade price probably got worse. Then the comparison gets honest. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. Your commute and mine probably aren't the same, but the test still applies. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

The trap is a pretty payment hiding a worse car price. In Charlotte, insurance quotes flipped a 2021 Hyundai Palisade comparison for me more than the sale price did. That's the part that actually changes the decision. No need to make it theatrical. Worth doing even if the car feels fine right now. I'll update if anything new shows up.

If I were shopping this, if one piece looks too good on the 2021 Hyundai Palisade, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. Then the comparison gets honest. This is from a 2021 Hyundai Palisade in Charlotte with 66,000 miles. Have you gotten a second quote in writing? Going to compare one more dealer before I decide.

Walked a dealership this week on the 2021 Hyundai Palisade (66,000 miles) and the doc fee was the tell. Going to re-read the worksheet tonight.

I would not stare at the monthly. I would not wire money until I've seen the 2021 Hyundai Palisade and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. Then the comparison gets honest. No need to make it theatrical. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

Then the comparison gets honest. Not gospel, but it saved me a headache. I've seen both outcomes, which is why I'd test instead of assume. This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.

Compare apples to apples or you'll get spun. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2021 Hyundai Palisade numbers without them. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. Did the worksheet show tax yet? This is the version I'd tell a friend.

Same neighborhood, different next step: A written buyer’s order on the 2021 Hyundai Palisade is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” Do that before you talk monthly again. On “dealer keeps discussing monthly payment instead of,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2021 Hyundai Palisade in Charlotte with 66,000 miles. That's the sequence I'd use. I screenshotted the quote for later.
