2021 Lexus ES — is this actually a good used-car deal? — second opinion before I spend money

QuietDaily835Community StarterFeb 5, 20262021 Lexus ES 350Miami
The online price looks competitive, but I am trying to judge the entire deal rather than the headline number. What should I compare besides mileage, history, condition and a PPI before deciding what it is worth? I am in Miami. I am trying to get the facts straight before spending money.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. Two 2021 Lexus ES quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. That's the part that actually changes the decision. If you share a photo of the worksheet, easier to sanity-check. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. Two 2021 Lexus ES quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. Then the comparison gets honest. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. A day of patience here is cheaper than a wrong part. If the story changes I'll post the new data.

Compare apples to apples or you'll get spun. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2021 Lexus ES numbers without them. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. Do that first. Sleeping on the number either way.

PPI is scheduled. I'm not depositing until I see the 2021 Lexus ES notes. Doc fee is the line I'm watching.

Don't send a deposit on a phone quote. If they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2021 Lexus ES price probably got worse. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. Calling insurance in the morning before I reply to the desk.

OP here. Still looking, but I'm waiting on inspection notes before I send money on the 2021 Lexus ES. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

Treat this like a math problem, not a vibe. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2021 Lexus ES numbers without them. Do that before you talk monthly again. A shop burned me once by skipping that step. Not trying to scare you — just skip the expensive first guess. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

Don't send a deposit on a phone quote. I would not wire money until I've seen the 2021 Lexus ES and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. That's coming from doing this as an owner, not a shop. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

Insurance and tax belong in the comparison, not as a surprise. Call your insurer in Miami before you fall in love with the 2021 Lexus ES. If they balk, that's your answer. On “is this actually a good used-car deal?,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. I screenshotted the quote for later.

Walk if they won't put it on a buyer’s order. If one piece looks too good on the 2021 Lexus ES, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. Do that first. I've seen both outcomes, which is why I'd test instead of assume. I'll update if anything new shows up.

Get the messy numbers in writing first. Ask for out-the-door on the 2021 Lexus ES with fees, add-ons, and rate on separate lines. If they balk, that's your answer. On “is this actually a good used-car deal?,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Had a similar mess a couple years ago and that's what finally sorted it. If GAP is bundled I'm making them unbundle it.

I'd want competing paper, not competing stories. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2021 Lexus ES numbers without them. If they balk, that's your answer. This is from a 2021 Lexus ES in Miami. Time, temperature, and whether it's in gear are the notes that actually help a shop. Going to re-read the worksheet tonight.
