2022 Genesis GV70 — oil level drops between services with no puddle

GarageScoutCommunity StarterMar 9, 20262022 Genesis GV70 3.5TCentral Jersey
2022 Genesis GV70 3.5T, about 34,500 miles. I started measuring the oil level every few hundred miles and it is definitely falling between changes. There is no obvious puddle and I do not notice smoke. How would you document and diagnose this instead of guessing? I am in Central Jersey.

Start with the test that can prove you wrong. Capture voltage while the 2022 Genesis GV70 is actually failing — after it restarts you've lost the clue. Save the big job until that test fails. This is from a 2022 Genesis GV70 in Central Jersey with 34,500 miles. A shop burned me once by skipping that step. Worth doing even if the car feels fine right now. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

If it were in my driveway, a pressure test beats staring at a dry driveway if the 2022 Genesis GV70 is losing coolant with no puddle. That's the branch I'd chase this week. Do that first. I'd rather be boring and correct. Not driving it hard until I know more.

Intermittent stuff lies if you only catch it once. A pressure test beats staring at a dry driveway if the 2022 Genesis GV70 is losing coolant with no puddle. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. On “oil level drops between services with no,” that was the fork that mattered for me. I'd want that in writing, not as a promise. I already checked the easy fluid levels.

Ask what changed right before it started. Swap the cheap/easy piece first on the 2022 Genesis GV70 and see if the fault moves. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. Parking it somewhere I can hear it better next time.

If it were in my driveway, write temp, speed, and in-gear vs coast when the 2022 Genesis GV70 does it — then decide on parts. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. Have you gotten a second quote in writing? Cold start is when I can actually reproduce it.

I hear you, though I'd still want a second check. Get a real battery/charging test on the 2022 Genesis GV70, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. That's the branch I'd chase this week. On “oil level drops between services with no,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. I'd rather pay for diagnosis than a second guess-repair.

I wouldn't throw parts yet. If a shop can't duplicate it on the 2022 Genesis GV70, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. I'll poke at it this weekend.

OP update: scanned the 2022 Genesis GV70 again and still only have the one pending code, no new lights. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

I'd want a measurement, not a hunch. Get a real battery/charging test on the 2022 Genesis GV70, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. I'd rather be boring and correct. Checking again after work.

This is usually cheaper to test than to guess. Two 2022 Genesis GV70s can feel identical and have different causes, so measure before you copy someone else's repair. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. Not gospel, but it saved me a headache. I refuse to clear codes until someone else sees them.

Fair point. Counterpoint: Move a coil or plug on the 2022 Genesis GV70 if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. Checking again after work.

Asking because it changes the advice: If a shop can't duplicate it on the 2022 Genesis GV70, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. No warning lights, which is why I'm documenting it.

Tried a second charger / second scan and the story on the 2022 Genesis GV70 didn't change. Trying not to diagnose from the couch.

This is from a 2022 Genesis GV70 in Central Jersey with 34,500 miles. Had a similar mess a couple years ago and that's what finally sorted it. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

Log the conditions before you spend. Loaded-suspension checks on the 2022 Genesis GV70 catch play that a wheels-hanging inspection misses. That's the branch I'd chase this week. On “oil level drops between services with no,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Just my two cents from doing this recently. This is the filter I use when the thread starts repeating itself. Only after sitting overnight so far.

I went back under the 2022 Genesis GV70 and it only happens after a heat soak, not on a cold start. Not driving it hard until I know more.
