2022 Genesis GV70 — private seller still has a loan on the car — anyone dealt with this recently?

2022 Genesis GV70 3.5T, about 76,000 miles. I like a privately listed car, but the seller still owes money and does not have a clear paper title in hand. What is the safest way to handle payoff, lien release, payment and possession?

I'd treat this like cash with a paper trail. A rushed deposit before you can inspect the 2022 Genesis GV70 is enough reason to walk. Then you'll know the next fork. On “private seller still has a loan on,” that was the fork that mattered for me. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. This is the filter I use when the thread starts repeating itself. I screenshotted the quote for later.

Agree — and I'd add this: Independent PPI on the 2022 Genesis GV70 is cheap insurance versus a seller who “already had a friend look at it.” Then you'll know the next fork. Do that first. I'd rather be boring and correct. Going to re-read the worksheet tonight.

Don't get cute with the meetup or the payment. A rushed deposit before you can inspect the 2022 Genesis GV70 is enough reason to walk. I'd do that before spending real money. Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. If the story changes I'll post the new data.
