2022 Honda Accord — reliable cheap first car or newer car with warranty?

NewCarDriverCommunity StarterOct 3, 20252022 Honda Accord 2.0T SportPennsylvania
2022 Honda Accord 2.0T Sport, about 71,000 miles. I am trying to balance purchase price against downtime and surprise repairs. Would you put the same budget into an older proven car with cash left over, or a newer car with warranty coverage?

Don't send a deposit on a phone quote. I would not wire money until I've seen the 2022 Honda Accord and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. That's the part that actually changes the decision. No need to make it theatrical. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

Same neighborhood, different next step: Call your insurer in Pennsylvania before you fall in love with the 2022 Honda Accord. If they balk, that's your answer. On “reliable cheap first car or newer car,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

Get the messy numbers in writing first. A written buyer’s order on the 2022 Honda Accord is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “reliable cheap first car or newer car,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2022 Honda Accord in Pennsylvania with 71,000 miles. Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. This is the filter I use when the thread starts repeating itself. I screenshotted the quote for later.

Walk if they won't put it on a buyer’s order. Two 2022 Honda Accord quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. Then the comparison gets honest. Just my two cents from doing this recently. Not letting add-ons ride along because everyone does.

Treat this like a math problem, not a vibe. A written buyer’s order on the 2022 Honda Accord is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. Did the worksheet show tax yet? If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

Fair point. Counterpoint: Two 2022 Honda Accord quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. I'd want that in writing, not as a promise. If the title is messy I'm out, full stop.

Don't send a deposit on a phone quote. If one piece looks too good on the 2022 Honda Accord, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. Then the comparison gets honest. Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. That's coming from doing this as an owner, not a shop. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

I hear you, though I'd still want a second check. Call your insurer in Pennsylvania before you fall in love with the 2022 Honda Accord. If they balk, that's your answer. Have you gotten a second quote in writing? I'd sleep better after that step, even if it finds nothing. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

I'd want competing paper, not competing stories. Call your insurer in Pennsylvania before you fall in love with the 2022 Honda Accord. If they balk, that's your answer. When does it actually happen? I'll post OTD once I have two apples-to-apples sheets.
