2022 Honda Accord — rolling negative equity into another car

CleanGal231Community StarterApr 21, 20262022 Honda Accord 2.0T SportAustin
This started as a small annoyance and I finally decided to track it down. 2022 Honda Accord 2.0T Sport, about 60,500 miles. Current car is worth less than the payoff and I need something different. Dealer says they can roll the difference into the new loan. I am trying to understand how ugly the math gets before doing that.

Coming back with numbers — insurance in Austin changed the 2022 Honda Accord comparison more than the sale price did. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

Compare apples to apples or you'll get spun. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2022 Honda Accord numbers without them. If they balk, that's your answer. Happy to compare notes if your setup is different. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

Not convinced that's the whole story. Two 2022 Honda Accord quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. Then the comparison gets honest. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. I've seen both outcomes, which is why I'd test instead of assume. If they only talk monthly I'm walking.

Get the messy numbers in writing first. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2022 Honda Accord numbers without them. Do that before you talk monthly again. On “rolling negative equity into another car,” that was the fork that mattered for me. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' If they get vague again I'm shopping the deal elsewhere.
