2022 Volvo XC90 — huge doc fee: argue about fee or total price?

ShopBuilder989Community StarterMar 3, 20262022 Volvo XC90 RechargeNationwide
2022 Volvo XC90 Recharge, about 63,500 miles. One dealer documentation fee is much higher than others nearby. Is it better to stop arguing about the label and just negotiate the overall out-the-door number? I am in Nationwide. I am trying not to assume the first explanation I see online.

Compare apples to apples or you'll get spun. Call your insurer in Nationwide before you fall in love with the 2022 Volvo XC90. Do that before you talk monthly again. Take it or leave it — that's what I'd do. Going to re-read the worksheet tonight.

I would not stare at the monthly. In Nationwide, insurance quotes flipped a 2022 Volvo XC90 comparison for me more than the sale price did. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. Had a similar mess a couple years ago and that's what finally sorted it. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

I would not stare at the monthly. Two 2022 Volvo XC90 quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Time, temperature, and whether it's in gear are the notes that actually help a shop. If the VIN lookup is clean I'm still doing PPI.

Get the messy numbers in writing first. Ask for out-the-door on the 2022 Volvo XC90 with fees, add-ons, and rate on separate lines. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “huge doc fee: argue about fee or,” that was the fork that mattered for me. That's the sequence I'd use. This is the filter I use when the thread starts repeating itself. I asked for the buyer’s order in email, not a text.

If I were shopping this, i would not wire money until I've seen the 2022 Volvo XC90 and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Any freeze-frame data saved? Worth doing even if the car feels fine right now. Doc fee is the line I'm watching.

Walk if they won't put it on a buyer’s order. Two 2022 Volvo XC90 quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. Then the comparison gets honest. This is from a 2022 Volvo XC90 in Nationwide with 63,500 miles. Any freeze-frame data saved? Worth doing even if the car feels fine right now. Not letting add-ons ride along because everyone does.

Compare apples to apples or you'll get spun. Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2022 Volvo XC90 so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. Do that before you talk monthly again. Any freeze-frame data saved? PPI guy I use is booked until next week, so I'm waiting.

Treat this like a math problem, not a vibe. A written buyer’s order on the 2022 Volvo XC90 is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. I'd rather be boring and correct. Sleeping on the number either way.

Insurance and tax belong in the comparison, not as a surprise. Ask for out-the-door on the 2022 Volvo XC90 with fees, add-ons, and rate on separate lines. If they balk, that's your answer. On “huge doc fee: argue about fee or,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Not gospel, but it saved me a headache. Climate here is different, so treat that as a local data point. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. In Nationwide, insurance quotes flipped a 2022 Volvo XC90 comparison for me more than the sale price did. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' If the VIN lookup is clean I'm still doing PPI.

OP update: I got two written quotes on the 2022 Volvo XC90 and the out-the-door gap is bigger than the ads made it look. If they get vague again I'm shopping the deal elsewhere.

Quick update: a second 2022 Volvo XC90 quote made the first offer look ordinary. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

PPI is scheduled. I'm not depositing until I see the 2022 Volvo XC90 notes. Going to compare one more dealer before I decide.

Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. I've seen both outcomes, which is why I'd test instead of assume. If they only talk monthly I'm walking.

Have you gotten a second quote in writing? I'd sleep better after that step, even if it finds nothing. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

Don't send a deposit on a phone quote. I would not wire money until I've seen the 2022 Volvo XC90 and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI.
