2022 Volvo XC90 — water spots keep coming back after correction

WrenchPilot142Community StarterJul 4, 20262022 Volvo XC90 RechargeLas Vegas
2022 Volvo XC90 Recharge, about 72,000 miles. Paint looked perfect after polishing, but water spotting returns after outdoor washes. I do not want to keep removing clear coat. What process change would you make first? Interested in real owner experience more than guesses.

Log the conditions before you spend. Move a coil or plug on the 2022 Volvo XC90 if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. On “water spots keep coming back after correction,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Any freeze-frame data saved? This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.

Asking because it changes the advice: Get a real battery/charging test on the 2022 Volvo XC90, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. Was this after sitting overnight? Checking again after work.

Quick add on that: A pressure test beats staring at a dry driveway if the 2022 Volvo XC90 is losing coolant with no puddle. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. On “water spots keep coming back after correction,” that was the fork that mattered for me. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.

I'd want a measurement, not a hunch. Capture voltage while the 2022 Volvo XC90 is actually failing — after it restarts you've lost the clue. That's the branch I'd chase this week. Was this after sitting overnight? This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.

Start with the test that can prove you wrong. A pressure test beats staring at a dry driveway if the 2022 Volvo XC90 is losing coolant with no puddle. That's the branch I'd chase this week. Any freeze-frame data saved? This is the version I'd tell a friend.

This is usually cheaper to test than to guess. Capture voltage while the 2022 Volvo XC90 is actually failing — after it restarts you've lost the clue. That's the branch I'd chase this week. Any freeze-frame data saved? That's coming from doing this as an owner, not a shop. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

If it were in my driveway, swap the cheap/easy piece first on the 2022 Volvo XC90 and see if the fault moves. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. That's the whole play. I'd rather pay for diagnosis than a second guess-repair.

Same neighborhood, different next step: Two 2022 Volvo XC90s can feel identical and have different causes, so measure before you copy someone else's repair. That's the branch I'd chase this week. On “water spots keep coming back after correction,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Was this after sitting overnight? Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

Ask what changed right before it started. Write temp, speed, and in-gear vs coast when the 2022 Volvo XC90 does it — then decide on parts. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. No need to make it theatrical. Only after sitting overnight so far.

I wouldn't throw parts yet. Get a real battery/charging test on the 2022 Volvo XC90, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. That's the branch I'd chase this week. Have you gotten a second quote in writing? If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

I wouldn't throw parts yet. A pressure test beats staring at a dry driveway if the 2022 Volvo XC90 is losing coolant with no puddle. That's the branch I'd chase this week. This is from a 2022 Volvo XC90 in Las Vegas with 72,000 miles. Was this after sitting overnight? If that fails I'll eat the diagnostic fee.

I'd want a measurement, not a hunch. If a shop can't duplicate it on the 2022 Volvo XC90, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. That's the sequence I'd use. I'd sleep better after that step, even if it finds nothing. I'd rather pay for diagnosis than a second guess-repair.
