2023 Lincoln Navigator — fuel trims are positive at idle and improve with RPM — anyone dealt with this recently?

TorqueMechanicishCommunity StarterNov 2, 20252023 Lincoln Navigator ReserveNashville
2023 Lincoln Navigator Reserve, about 45,500 miles. Long-term fuel trims are much more positive at idle than at 2,500 RPM. No obvious misfire. Does that pattern still make an intake/vacuum leak the first place to look?

Tried a second charger / second scan and the story on the 2023 Lincoln Navigator didn't change. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

I'd want a measurement, not a hunch. Loaded-suspension checks on the 2023 Lincoln Navigator catch play that a wheels-hanging inspection misses. Save the big job until that test fails. Do that first. This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.

I'd want a measurement, not a hunch. Swap the cheap/easy piece first on the 2023 Lincoln Navigator and see if the fault moves. That's the branch I'd chase this week. Happy to compare notes if your setup is different. I keep a notes app thread for this now.

This is usually cheaper to test than to guess. Two 2023 Lincoln Navigators can feel identical and have different causes, so measure before you copy someone else's repair. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. Time, temperature, and whether it's in gear are the notes that actually help a shop. I refuse to clear codes until someone else sees them.

Cleared nothing. I want service to see the alert on the 2023 Lincoln Navigator first. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

This is from a 2023 Lincoln Navigator in Nashville with 45,500 miles. Stop there until you know. This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.

Ask what changed right before it started. Swap the cheap/easy piece first on the 2023 Lincoln Navigator and see if the fault moves. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. Not driving it hard until I know more.

Log the conditions before you spend. Two 2023 Lincoln Navigators can feel identical and have different causes, so measure before you copy someone else's repair. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. On “fuel trims are positive at idle and,” that was the fork that mattered for me. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. This is the filter I use when the thread starts repeating itself. I keep a notes app thread for this now.

OP update: scanned the 2023 Lincoln Navigator again and still only have the one pending code, no new lights. Cold start is when I can actually reproduce it.

If it were in my driveway, a pressure test beats staring at a dry driveway if the 2023 Lincoln Navigator is losing coolant with no puddle. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. Stop there until you know. Happens in gear, not in park, for what that's worth.

This is usually cheaper to test than to guess. Capture voltage while the 2023 Lincoln Navigator is actually failing — after it restarts you've lost the clue. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. Any freeze-frame data saved? This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.

Intermittent stuff lies if you only catch it once. Loaded-suspension checks on the 2023 Lincoln Navigator catch play that a wheels-hanging inspection misses. Save the big job until that test fails. On “fuel trims are positive at idle and,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Time, temperature, and whether it's in gear are the notes that actually help a shop. If your situation is the opposite, ignore me. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

Start with the test that can prove you wrong. Move a coil or plug on the 2023 Lincoln Navigator if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. Happy to compare notes if your setup is different. Worth doing even if the car feels fine right now. Doing the boring step first on purpose.
