2024 BMW i4 — new pads squeal at parking-lot speeds — Raleigh owner

This started as a small annoyance and I finally decided to track it down. Pads and rotors were replaced recently and stopping performance is good, but there is low-speed squeal. Hardware was cleaned and lubricated. How long would you give bedding before inspecting again?

Start with the test that can prove you wrong. Move a coil or plug on the 2024 BMW i4 if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. Stop there until you know. Worth doing even if the car feels fine right now. Checking again after work.

I'd push back a little: Loaded-suspension checks on the 2024 BMW i4 catch play that a wheels-hanging inspection misses. Save the big job until that test fails. Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. I've seen both outcomes, which is why I'd test instead of assume. Cold start is when I can actually reproduce it.

If it were in my driveway, if a shop can't duplicate it on the 2024 BMW i4, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. Video is ugly but it shows the hesitation.

Fair point. Counterpoint: Get a real battery/charging test on the 2024 BMW i4, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. I'd want that in writing, not as a promise. Only after sitting overnight so far.

Ask what changed right before it started. Write temp, speed, and in-gear vs coast when the 2024 BMW i4 does it — then decide on parts. Save the big job until that test fails. This is from a 2024 BMW i4 in Raleigh. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. If it repeats twice more I'll book time.

Did the worksheet show tax yet? That's coming from doing this as an owner, not a shop. Not interested in a five-hour wait for a shrug.
