2024 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Z51 — can I go one inch smaller for winter wheels?

HybridHunter56Community StarterFeb 8, 20262024 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Z51Phoenix
Looking at a smaller-diameter winter setup for more sidewall. Main concern is brake clearance and keeping total tire diameter close. What measurements do you verify before ordering? I'd rather test this logically than start replacing parts. Ambient temp was about 45°F when I noticed it.

This is a climate question as much as a tire question. Watch brake clearance and overall diameter if you downsize winter wheels on the 2024 Chevrolet Corvette. I'd do that before spending real money. On “can i go one inch smaller for,” that was the fork that mattered for me. That's the whole play. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

I'd pick the setup I'll actually live with in slush. In Phoenix, dedicated winters on the 2024 Chevrolet Corvette paid off more than I expected on ice, even on plowed roads. That's where I'd start. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. Not trying to scare you — just skip the expensive first guess. If it repeats twice more I'll book time.

I parked the 2024 Chevrolet Corvette and wrote down what I already tested so I'm not repeating myself. Checking again after work.

Then you'll know the next fork. On “can i go one inch smaller for,” that was the fork that mattered for me. The universe charges extra for guessing. I'll poke at it this weekend.

That's the whole play. Make the next action something you can finish this week. If that fails I'll eat the diagnostic fee.

Quick add on that: In Phoenix, dedicated winters on the 2024 Chevrolet Corvette paid off more than I expected on ice, even on plowed roads. That's where I'd start. On “can i go one inch smaller for,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. Next check is the cheap one I can do in a driveway.

Yes, with one caveat: If Phoenix only sees a few real storms, a good all-weather on the 2024 Chevrolet Corvette can be the saner daily. I'd do that before spending real money. Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. I'd rather be boring and correct. Only after sitting overnight so far.

Useful. I'll report back after I verify that on my 2024 Chevrolet Corvette. Heat soak after errands is the other window.

Salt and cold mornings punish cheap shortcuts. Watch brake clearance and overall diameter if you downsize winter wheels on the 2024 Chevrolet Corvette. That's where I'd start. Was this after sitting overnight? Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

That's a good start, but I wouldn't stop there. Watch brake clearance and overall diameter if you downsize winter wheels on the 2024 Chevrolet Corvette. Then you'll know the next fork. I'd want that in writing, not as a promise. Your commute and mine probably aren't the same, but the test still applies. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

Thanks — that narrowed it. I'm going to try the simpler check on the 2024 Chevrolet Corvette first. Happens in gear, not in park, for what that's worth.
