2024 Mitsubishi Outlander — hybrid fuel economy dropped with no warning light — San Antonio owner question

CanyonOwner442Community StarterOct 19, 20252024 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV SELSan Antonio
2024 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV SEL, about 40,500 miles. Same commute and driver, but average MPG is down noticeably. Tires are properly inflated. What hybrid-specific data would you inspect before blaming the high-voltage battery? I am trying not to assume the first explanation I see online.

Log the conditions before you spend. Move a coil or plug on the 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. On “hybrid fuel economy dropped with no warning,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. Only after sitting overnight so far.

OP here — recorded a short video and noted speed, temp, and whether it was in gear. This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.

Start with the test that can prove you wrong. Move a coil or plug on the 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. Did the worksheet show tax yet? Worth doing even if the car feels fine right now. Happens in gear, not in park, for what that's worth.

Not convinced that's the whole story. Get a real battery/charging test on the 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. Save the big job until that test fails. This is from a 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander in San Antonio with 40,500 miles. Time, temperature, and whether it's in gear are the notes that actually help a shop. That's my plan before I call anyone.

If it were in my driveway, if a shop can't duplicate it on the 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. If you share a photo of the worksheet, easier to sanity-check. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

If it were in my driveway, capture voltage while the 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander is actually failing — after it restarts you've lost the clue. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. Any freeze-frame data saved? I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

Ask what changed right before it started. Two 2024 Mitsubishi Outlanders can feel identical and have different causes, so measure before you copy someone else's repair. That's the branch I'd chase this week. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

Intermittent stuff lies if you only catch it once. Move a coil or plug on the 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. On “hybrid fuel economy dropped with no warning,” that was the fork that mattered for me. If you share a photo of the worksheet, easier to sanity-check. Next check is the cheap one I can do in a driveway.

I wouldn't throw parts yet. If a shop can't duplicate it on the 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. When does it actually happen? Not driving it hard until I know more.
