2024 Polestar 2 — new pads squeal at parking-lot speeds

RustBeltGalCommunity StarterFeb 18, 20262024 Polestar 2 Long Range Dual MotorPhiladelphia
2024 Polestar 2 Long Range Dual Motor, about 18,000 miles. Pads and rotors were replaced recently and stopping performance is good, but there is low-speed squeal. Hardware was cleaned and lubricated. How long would you give bedding before inspecting again?

Intermittent stuff lies if you only catch it once. Get a real battery/charging test on the 2024 Polestar 2, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. On “new pads squeal at parking-lot speeds,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Did the worksheet show tax yet? Video is ugly but it shows the hesitation.

I wouldn't throw parts yet. Write temp, speed, and in-gear vs coast when the 2024 Polestar 2 does it — then decide on parts. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. Had a similar mess a couple years ago and that's what finally sorted it. Checking again after work.

Log the conditions before you spend. Two 2024 Polestar 2s can feel identical and have different causes, so measure before you copy someone else's repair. That's the branch I'd chase this week. On “new pads squeal at parking-lot speeds,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Had a similar mess a couple years ago and that's what finally sorted it. I'll poke at it this weekend.

I'd want a measurement, not a hunch. Swap the cheap/easy piece first on the 2024 Polestar 2 and see if the fault moves. Save the big job until that test fails. Time, temperature, and whether it's in gear are the notes that actually help a shop. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

Start with the test that can prove you wrong. A pressure test beats staring at a dry driveway if the 2024 Polestar 2 is losing coolant with no puddle. That's the branch I'd chase this week. Time, temperature, and whether it's in gear are the notes that actually help a shop. Checking again after work.

Start with the test that can prove you wrong. If a shop can't duplicate it on the 2024 Polestar 2, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. That's the branch I'd chase this week. Time, temperature, and whether it's in gear are the notes that actually help a shop. Worth doing even if the car feels fine right now. I already checked the easy fluid levels.

This is usually cheaper to test than to guess. Write temp, speed, and in-gear vs coast when the 2024 Polestar 2 does it — then decide on parts. That's the branch I'd chase this week. Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. Cold start is when I can actually reproduce it.

I'd push back a little: Capture voltage while the 2024 Polestar 2 is actually failing — after it restarts you've lost the clue. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. A shop burned me once by skipping that step. Not driving it hard until I know more.

If it were in my driveway, swap the cheap/easy piece first on the 2024 Polestar 2 and see if the fault moves. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

If your situation is the opposite, ignore me. I keep a notes app thread for this now.

Checked the easy stuff on the 2024 Polestar 2 and found one clue worth chasing before I book a shop. Trying not to diagnose from the couch.

You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. This is from a 2024 Polestar 2 in Philadelphia with 18,000 miles. Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. If the story changes I'll post the new data.

Intermittent stuff lies if you only catch it once. Move a coil or plug on the 2024 Polestar 2 if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. On “new pads squeal at parking-lot speeds,” that was the fork that mattered for me. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. Only after sitting overnight so far.

Not convinced that's the whole story. Write temp, speed, and in-gear vs coast when the 2024 Polestar 2 does it — then decide on parts. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. That's coming from doing this as an owner, not a shop. I already checked the easy fluid levels.

I wouldn't throw parts yet. Get a real battery/charging test on the 2024 Polestar 2, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. That's the branch I'd chase this week. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' Worth doing even if the car feels fine right now. Trying not to diagnose from the couch.

Yes, with one caveat: If a shop can't duplicate it on the 2024 Polestar 2, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. I'd rather be boring and correct. That's my plan before I call anyone.

Yes, with one caveat: Loaded-suspension checks on the 2024 Polestar 2 catch play that a wheels-hanging inspection misses. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. On “new pads squeal at parking-lot speeds,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Had a similar mess a couple years ago and that's what finally sorted it. This is the filter I use when the thread starts repeating itself. If it repeats twice more I'll book time.

Ask what changed right before it started. If a shop can't duplicate it on the 2024 Polestar 2, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. That's the branch I'd chase this week. No need to make it theatrical. A day of patience here is cheaper than a wrong part. Parking it somewhere I can hear it better next time.

I hear you, though I'd still want a second check. A pressure test beats staring at a dry driveway if the 2024 Polestar 2 is losing coolant with no puddle. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. On “new pads squeal at parking-lot speeds,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2024 Polestar 2 in Philadelphia with 18,000 miles. That's the sequence I'd use. Climate here is different, so treat that as a local data point. If it repeats twice more I'll book time.

You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. Was this after sitting overnight? Make the next action something you can finish this week. I refuse to clear codes until someone else sees them.
