2024 Polestar 2 — surface rust underneath a winter daily

2024 Polestar 2 Long Range Dual Motor, about 8,000 miles. There is early surface rust on brackets, fasteners and seams underneath, but nothing structural. For a salt-belt car, what treatment slows it down without creating a hard coating that traps moisture? I am in Bay Area. I am trying to get the facts straight before spending money.

I'd pick the setup I'll actually live with in slush. Watch brake clearance and overall diameter if you downsize winter wheels on the 2024 Polestar 2. That's where I'd start. That's the sequence I'd use. Only after sitting overnight so far.

Agree — and I'd add this: In Bay Area, dedicated winters on the 2024 Polestar 2 paid off more than I expected on ice, even on plowed roads. That's where I'd start. Any freeze-frame data saved? Happens in gear, not in park, for what that's worth.

Salt and cold mornings punish cheap shortcuts. If Bay Area only sees a few real storms, a good all-weather on the 2024 Polestar 2 can be the saner daily. I'd do that before spending real money. On “surface rust underneath a winter daily,” that was the fork that mattered for me. That's the sequence I'd use. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

That's the whole play. Your commute and mine probably aren't the same, but the test still applies. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.
