2024 Tesla Model Y — dedicated winter tires or modern all-weather tires?

LongMilesOwnerCommunity StarterSep 4, 20262024 Tesla Model Y Long RangeNew York
This started as a small annoyance and I finally decided to track it down. Most roads are plowed quickly, but there are cold wet days, slush and a handful of serious storms. For a daily driver, where is the line where dedicated winters become worth storing? I am trying to get the facts straight before spending money.

Don't clear the alert just to make the screen pretty. Leave the alerts on the 2024 Tesla Model Y so service can see what you saw. Then you'll know the next fork. Any freeze-frame data saved? Not trying to scare you — just skip the expensive first guess. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

Charge curves lie if you don't match starting SOC and temp. Match starting SOC and battery temp if you're comparing 2024 Tesla Model Y charge sessions. That's where I'd start. Have you gotten a second quote in writing? Not driving it hard until I know more.

Low-voltage gremlins will strand you even with a full pack. Try a second charger before blaming the 2024 Tesla Model Y — site sharing and pack temp change the curve a lot. That's where I'd start. Time, temperature, and whether it's in gear are the notes that actually help a shop. Not interested in a five-hour wait for a shrug.

Same neighborhood, different next step: On the 2024 Tesla Model Y, I'd get the 12V/DC-DC side checked even if the traction pack looks fine. I'd do that before spending real money. On “dedicated winter tires or modern all-weather tires,” that was the fork that mattered for me. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. If your situation is the opposite, ignore me. Trying not to diagnose from the couch.

Then you'll know the next fork. This is from a 2024 Tesla Model Y in New York. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. Your commute and mine probably aren't the same, but the test still applies. I'll update if anything new shows up.

I'd treat 12V warnings as a no-ignore. On the 2024 Tesla Model Y, I'd get the 12V/DC-DC side checked even if the traction pack looks fine. Then you'll know the next fork. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

I'd push back a little: Try a second charger before blaming the 2024 Tesla Model Y — site sharing and pack temp change the curve a lot. That's where I'd start. Just my two cents from doing this recently. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

This is the filter I use when the thread starts repeating itself. Heat soak after errands is the other window.

No need to make it theatrical. Make the next action something you can finish this week. Wrote this up on my lunch break.
