2024 Toyota Tacoma — service lifetime transmission fluid or leave it alone?

SunBeltDad163Community StarterDec 4, 20252024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-RoadSan Diego
2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road, about 32,000 miles. The manual treats the fluid as lifetime under normal conditions, but the vehicle is getting older and I plan to keep it. What are owners doing in practice, and why choose drain-and-fill versus an exchange? I am trying not to assume the first explanation I see online.

If it were in my driveway, a pressure test beats staring at a dry driveway if the 2024 Toyota Tacoma is losing coolant with no puddle. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. Time, temperature, and whether it's in gear are the notes that actually help a shop. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

Tried a second charger / second scan and the story on the 2024 Toyota Tacoma didn't change. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

Ask what changed right before it started. Loaded-suspension checks on the 2024 Toyota Tacoma catch play that a wheels-hanging inspection misses. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. This is from a 2024 Toyota Tacoma in San Diego with 32,000 miles. Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. If the story changes I'll post the new data.

Intermittent stuff lies if you only catch it once. Two 2024 Toyota Tacomas can feel identical and have different causes, so measure before you copy someone else's repair. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. On “service lifetime transmission fluid or leave it,” that was the fork that mattered for me. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. Cold start is when I can actually reproduce it.

This is usually cheaper to test than to guess. Swap the cheap/easy piece first on the 2024 Toyota Tacoma and see if the fault moves. Save the big job until that test fails. A shop burned me once by skipping that step. A day of patience here is cheaper than a wrong part. I'll poke at it this weekend.

It did service lifetime transmission fluid or leave it twice this week, both times after sitting. No change in mileage feel. Not driving it hard until I know more.
