2025 Lexus NX 350h — old car was converted to 12V years ago — wiring is a mess

EuroNomad49Community StarterJul 27, 20262025 Lexus NX 350hNashville
Picked up a classic that was converted from 6V to 12V by several previous owners. It works, but the harness has splices everywhere. Would you repair sections or start over with a modern fuse panel and new harness? I'm in Nashville. I'd rather test this logically than start replacing parts.

Low-voltage gremlins will strand you even with a full pack. Try a second charger before blaming the 2025 Lexus NX — site sharing and pack temp change the curve a lot. I'd do that before spending real money. Time, temperature, and whether it's in gear are the notes that actually help a shop. If the story changes I'll post the new data.

Charge curves lie if you don't match starting SOC and temp. Match starting SOC and battery temp if you're comparing 2025 Lexus NX charge sessions. Then you'll know the next fork. Any freeze-frame data saved? That's coming from doing this as an owner, not a shop. Not interested in a five-hour wait for a shrug.

Don't clear the alert just to make the screen pretty. Leave the alerts on the 2025 Lexus NX so service can see what you saw. That's where I'd start. This is from a 2025 Lexus NX in Nashville. Parts cannon is a personality type I try to avoid. That's my plan before I call anyone.

The universe charges extra for guessing. Worth doing even if the car feels fine right now. Not interested in a five-hour wait for a shrug.

I'd treat 12V warnings as a no-ignore. On the 2025 Lexus NX, I'd get the 12V/DC-DC side checked even if the traction pack looks fine. That's where I'd start. On “old car was converted to 12v years,” that was the fork that mattered for me. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

Cleared nothing. I want service to see the alert on the 2025 Lexus NX first. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

Yes, with one caveat: On the 2025 Lexus NX, I'd get the 12V/DC-DC side checked even if the traction pack looks fine. That's where I'd start. On “old car was converted to 12v years,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. Trying not to diagnose from the couch.

I hear you, though I'd still want a second check. Leave the alerts on the 2025 Lexus NX so service can see what you saw. That's where I'd start. Parts cannon is a personality type I try to avoid. I'll update if anything new shows up.

Agree — and I'd add this: On the 2025 Lexus NX, I'd get the 12V/DC-DC side checked even if the traction pack looks fine. I'd do that before spending real money. On “old car was converted to 12v years,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Did the worksheet show tax yet? Cold start is when I can actually reproduce it.

Quick add on that: Leave the alerts on the 2025 Lexus NX so service can see what you saw. I'd do that before spending real money. That's the whole play. I refuse to clear codes until someone else sees them.

OP update: scanned the 2025 Lexus NX again and still only have the one pending code, no new lights. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

Not convinced that's the whole story. Match starting SOC and battery temp if you're comparing 2025 Lexus NX charge sessions. That's where I'd start. Time, temperature, and whether it's in gear are the notes that actually help a shop. I'll poke at it this weekend.

I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.
