Anyone else: CPO luxury SUV or brand-new mainstream SUV?

WrenchDaily20Community StarterJul 6, 20262021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTZ 6.2Nashville
Budget works for either a lightly used luxury SUV or a new mainstream model with a full warranty. I'm more worried about three-to-five-year ownership cost and service downtime than the purchase price. How would you compare them? I'm in Nashville. I'd rather test this logically than start replacing parts.

Treat this like a math problem, not a vibe. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 numbers without them. If they balk, that's your answer. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. PPI guy I use is booked until next week, so I'm waiting.

I would not stare at the monthly. If they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 price probably got worse. Then the comparison gets honest. That's the whole play. If the title is messy I'm out, full stop.

That's a good start, but I wouldn't stop there. Two 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. I'd want that in writing, not as a promise. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

The trap is a pretty payment hiding a worse car price. If they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 price probably got worse. That's the part that actually changes the decision. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. Worth doing even if the car feels fine right now. This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. Two 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. Then the comparison gets honest. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. A day of patience here is cheaper than a wrong part. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

Insurance and tax belong in the comparison, not as a surprise. Ask for out-the-door on the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with fees, add-ons, and rate on separate lines. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “cpo luxury suv or brand-new mainstream suv,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Just my two cents from doing this recently. I asked for the buyer’s order in email, not a text.
