Anyone else: Good independent shop for a pre-purchase inspection?

SmoothMom48Community StarterJul 2, 20262021 Honda CR-V EX-LTexas
2021 Honda CR-V EX-L, about 62,000 miles. Looking at a used car locally and want a genuinely independent PPI, preferably someone familiar with this brand. What do you ask the shop to include besides a basic scan and lift inspection?

If I were shopping this, if they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2021 Honda CR-V price probably got worse. That's the part that actually changes the decision. This is from a 2021 Honda CR-V in Texas with 62,000 miles. Did the worksheet show tax yet? If they only talk monthly I'm walking.

Treat this like a math problem, not a vibe. Call your insurer in Texas before you fall in love with the 2021 Honda CR-V. If they balk, that's your answer. Have you gotten a second quote in writing? I'd rather be boring and correct. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

Treat this like a math problem, not a vibe. Ask for out-the-door on the 2021 Honda CR-V with fees, add-ons, and rate on separate lines. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. Any freeze-frame data saved? Sleeping on the number either way.

OP here. Still looking, but I'm waiting on inspection notes before I send money on the 2021 Honda CR-V. This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.

I would not stare at the monthly. Two 2021 Honda CR-V quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. This is from a 2021 Honda CR-V in Texas with 62,000 miles. Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

Hard-won lesson from my last deal: GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2021 Honda CR-V numbers without them. If they balk, that's your answer. On “good independent shop for a pre-purchase inspection,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Time, temperature, and whether it's in gear are the notes that actually help a shop. That's my plan before I call anyone.

Coming back with numbers — insurance in Texas changed the 2021 Honda CR-V comparison more than the sale price did. If the title is messy I'm out, full stop.

Quick add on that: GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2021 Honda CR-V numbers without them. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. When does it actually happen? Going to re-read the worksheet tonight.

I would not stare at the monthly. If they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2021 Honda CR-V price probably got worse. Then the comparison gets honest. Time, temperature, and whether it's in gear are the notes that actually help a shop. A day of patience here is cheaper than a wrong part. Not wiring anything in the meantime.

Get the messy numbers in writing first. Call your insurer in Texas before you fall in love with the 2021 Honda CR-V. Do that before you talk monthly again. On “good independent shop for a pre-purchase inspection,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Any freeze-frame data saved? If GAP is bundled I'm making them unbundle it.

I would not stare at the monthly. I would not wire money until I've seen the 2021 Honda CR-V and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. That's the part that actually changes the decision. This is from a 2021 Honda CR-V in Texas with 62,000 miles. Time, temperature, and whether it's in gear are the notes that actually help a shop. PPI is scheduled. I'm not depositing until I see the 2021 Honda CR-V notes. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

Get the messy numbers in writing first. Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2021 Honda CR-V so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. If they balk, that's your answer. On “good independent shop for a pre-purchase inspection,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. That's my plan before I call anyone.
