Anyone else: Transmission temperature climbs on long grades

CruiseRoadieCommunity StarterJun 14, 20262021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTZ 6.2Salt Lake City
Normal temperatures around town, but towing uphill for 20–30 minutes pushes trans temp much higher. How do you decide whether the solution is speed/gear selection, added cooling, or simply less trailer? I'd rather test this logically than start replacing parts.

I'd keep this practical. Verify the cheap/easy branch on the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 before a big repair or a big spend. I'd do that before spending real money. The universe charges extra for guessing. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

Write down what you already tried. A second data point from another 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 owner helps more than a generic diagnosis. I'd do that before spending real money. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

Owner notes beat generic advice here. On the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 in Salt Lake City, I'd fix the thing you'll notice every day before chasing spec-sheet extras. That's where I'd start. On “transmission temperature climbs on long grades,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 in Salt Lake City. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. Climate here is different, so treat that as a local data point. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

Useful. I'll report back after I verify that on my 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

I parked the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and wrote down what I already tested so I'm not repeating myself. That's my plan before I call anyone.

Don't overfit one forum story to your car. If it still isn't clear on the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, a specialist hour can be cheaper than another round of parts. That's where I'd start. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

Thanks — that narrowed it. I'm going to try the simpler check on the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 first. If the story changes I'll post the new data.

Fair point. Counterpoint: If it still isn't clear on the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, a specialist hour can be cheaper than another round of parts. I'd do that before spending real money. Have you gotten a second quote in writing? Make the next action something you can finish this week. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

Don't overfit one forum story to your car. If it still isn't clear on the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, a specialist hour can be cheaper than another round of parts. I'd do that before spending real money. Any freeze-frame data saved? If the story changes I'll post the new data.

Not convinced that's the whole story. If it still isn't clear on the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, a specialist hour can be cheaper than another round of parts. Then you'll know the next fork. This is from a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 in Salt Lake City. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

That's a good start, but I wouldn't stop there. Verify the cheap/easy branch on the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 before a big repair or a big spend. That's where I'd start. Any freeze-frame data saved? Worth doing even if the car feels fine right now. This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.
