CPO luxury SUV or brand-new mainstream SUV?

Budget works for either a lightly used luxury SUV or a new mainstream model with a full warranty. I'm more worried about three-to-five-year ownership cost and service downtime than the purchase price. How would you compare them? Trying to diagnose before I book a shop.

Don't send a deposit on a phone quote. If they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 price probably got worse. Then the comparison gets honest. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. Make the next action something you can finish this week. Not wiring anything in the meantime.

If you share a photo of the worksheet, easier to sanity-check. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

Same neighborhood, different next step: Ask for out-the-door on the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with fees, add-ons, and rate on separate lines. Do that before you talk monthly again. The universe charges extra for guessing. PPI guy I use is booked until next week, so I'm waiting.

Not convinced that's the whole story. In Connecticut, insurance quotes flipped a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 comparison for me more than the sale price did. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. This is from a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 in Connecticut. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. I've seen both outcomes, which is why I'd test instead of assume. I'll update if anything new shows up.

On “new mainstream suv,” that was the fork that mattered for me. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. This is the filter I use when the thread starts repeating itself. I screenshotted the quote for later.
