Do shorter oil intervals actually make sense for my use?

2022 Honda Accord 2.0T Sport, about 96,000 miles. Most of my driving is short trips with a lot of idling, but the factory interval is pretty long. I'd rather not waste oil, but I also plan to keep the car past 150k. How would you set an interval based on use instead of just mileage? I'm in Texas. I'd rather test this logically than start replacing parts.

Treat this like a math problem, not a vibe. A written buyer’s order on the 2022 Honda Accord is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” If they balk, that's your answer. Just my two cents from doing this recently. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. Two 2022 Honda Accord quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. That's the part that actually changes the decision. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' If the title is messy I'm out, full stop.

Insurance and tax belong in the comparison, not as a surprise. A written buyer’s order on the 2022 Honda Accord is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” Do that before you talk monthly again. On “do shorter oil intervals actually make sense,” that was the fork that mattered for me. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

Coming back with numbers — insurance in Texas changed the 2022 Honda Accord comparison more than the sale price did. If the title is messy I'm out, full stop.

Walk if they won't put it on a buyer’s order. I would not wire money until I've seen the 2022 Honda Accord and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. Then the comparison gets honest. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. If they only talk monthly I'm walking.
