Need advice: Fluid-film style rustproofing on a daily winter car

ColdStartTunerCommunity StarterJan 19, 20262025 Lexus NX 350hNorth Jersey
Car sees salted roads all winter. I'm considering an annual oil/wax style treatment rather than a hard undercoat. Any areas people commonly miss or places you would specifically avoid spraying? I'd rather test this logically than start replacing parts.

I'd pick the setup I'll actually live with in slush. Watch brake clearance and overall diameter if you downsize winter wheels on the 2025 Lexus NX. Then you'll know the next fork. On “fluid-film style rustproofing on a daily winter,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2025 Lexus NX in North Jersey. Happy to compare notes if your setup is different. I'll poke at it this weekend.

Salt and cold mornings punish cheap shortcuts. If North Jersey only sees a few real storms, a good all-weather on the 2025 Lexus NX can be the saner daily. I'd do that before spending real money. On “fluid-film style rustproofing on a daily winter,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Had a similar mess a couple years ago and that's what finally sorted it. This is the filter I use when the thread starts repeating itself. Checking again after work.

That's a good start, but I wouldn't stop there. If North Jersey only sees a few real storms, a good all-weather on the 2025 Lexus NX can be the saner daily. Then you'll know the next fork. Have you gotten a second quote in writing? If the story changes I'll post the new data.

I parked the 2025 Lexus NX and wrote down what I already tested so I'm not repeating myself. Trying not to diagnose from the couch.

Did the worksheet show tax yet? Your commute and mine probably aren't the same, but the test still applies. Only after sitting overnight so far.

OP update: I tried the earlier suggestion and it only happens under that one condition. No warning lights, which is why I'm documenting it.

This is a climate question as much as a tire question. Watch brake clearance and overall diameter if you downsize winter wheels on the 2025 Lexus NX. That's where I'd start. Any freeze-frame data saved? Video is ugly but it shows the hesitation.

This is a climate question as much as a tire question. In North Jersey, dedicated winters on the 2025 Lexus NX paid off more than I expected on ice, even on plowed roads. I'd do that before spending real money. On “fluid-film style rustproofing on a daily winter,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

Salt and cold mornings punish cheap shortcuts. Watch brake clearance and overall diameter if you downsize winter wheels on the 2025 Lexus NX. Then you'll know the next fork. Do that first. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

Not gospel, but it saved me a headache. I've seen both outcomes, which is why I'd test instead of assume. Parking it somewhere I can hear it better next time.

Time, temperature, and whether it's in gear are the notes that actually help a shop. Not trying to scare you — just skip the expensive first guess. Doing the boring step first on purpose.
