Need advice: New model reveal: what matters beyond the headline specs?

RoadDetailer19Community StarterDec 21, 20252025 BMW M3 Competition xDriveChicago
A new model just dropped and the headline numbers look good, but I'm more interested in curb weight, wheel/tire sizes, real rear-seat room, charging/fueling, repairability and what features are locked behind packages. Appreciate any ideas on what to check first.

Low-voltage gremlins will strand you even with a full pack. Try a second charger before blaming the 2025 BMW M3 — site sharing and pack temp change the curve a lot. I'd do that before spending real money. Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. Next check is the cheap one I can do in a driveway.

Charge curves lie if you don't match starting SOC and temp. Match starting SOC and battery temp if you're comparing 2025 BMW M3 charge sessions. Then you'll know the next fork. Parts cannon is a personality type I try to avoid. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

I'd treat 12V warnings as a no-ignore. On the 2025 BMW M3, I'd get the 12V/DC-DC side checked even if the traction pack looks fine. That's where I'd start. On “new model reveal: what matters beyond the,” that was the fork that mattered for me. If you share a photo of the worksheet, easier to sanity-check. Climate here is different, so treat that as a local data point. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

It did new model reveal: what matters beyond the twice this week, both times after sitting. No change in mileage feel. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

Charge curves lie if you don't match starting SOC and temp. Match starting SOC and battery temp if you're comparing 2025 BMW M3 charge sessions. That's where I'd start. Had a similar mess a couple years ago and that's what finally sorted it. Make the next action something you can finish this week. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. That's coming from doing this as an owner, not a shop. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

That's a good start, but I wouldn't stop there. Match starting SOC and battery temp if you're comparing 2025 BMW M3 charge sessions. Then you'll know the next fork. Was this after sitting overnight? No warning lights, which is why I'm documenting it.

Don't clear the alert just to make the screen pretty. Leave the alerts on the 2025 BMW M3 so service can see what you saw. Then you'll know the next fork. This is from a 2025 BMW M3 in Chicago. Monthly payment math is how wallets disappear. I'd rather be boring and correct. If the story changes I'll post the new data.

Parking it somewhere I can hear it better next time.

Update: the cheap test changed the symptom, so I'm not throwing parts yet. I'll update if anything new shows up.

Not convinced that's the whole story. Try a second charger before blaming the 2025 BMW M3 — site sharing and pack temp change the curve a lot. Then you'll know the next fork. Parts cannon is a personality type I try to avoid. Your commute and mine probably aren't the same, but the test still applies. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

Yes, with one caveat: Leave the alerts on the 2025 BMW M3 so service can see what you saw. Then you'll know the next fork. If you share a photo of the worksheet, easier to sanity-check. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

OP update: scanned the 2025 BMW M3 again and still only have the one pending code, no new lights. I refuse to clear codes until someone else sees them.

Cleared nothing. I want service to see the alert on the 2025 BMW M3 first. Happens in gear, not in park, for what that's worth.

I went back under the 2025 BMW M3 and it only happens after a heat soak, not on a cold start. I'll poke at it this weekend.
