Need advice: Silverado light-throttle shudder: engine or transmission?

TorqueGuyCommunity StarterAug 29, 20262021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTZ 6.2Boston / New England
2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTZ 6.2, about 8,200 miles. At steady speed with light throttle I get a vibration that feels almost like driving over fine rumble strips. It disappears if I accelerate. What's the cleanest way to separate wheel/tire issues, cylinder-deactivation behavior and converter/transmission shudder?

Cleared nothing. I want service to see the alert on the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 first. If that fails I'll eat the diagnostic fee.

Ask what changed right before it started. Two 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500s can feel identical and have different causes, so measure before you copy someone else's repair. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

Log the conditions before you spend. Move a coil or plug on the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. That's the branch I'd chase this week. On “silverado light-throttle shudder: engine or transmission,” that was the fork that mattered for me. The universe charges extra for guessing. Happens in gear, not in park, for what that's worth.

Intermittent stuff lies if you only catch it once. Capture voltage while the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is actually failing — after it restarts you've lost the clue. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. On “silverado light-throttle shudder: engine or transmission,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 in Boston / New England with 8,200 miles. Monthly payment math is how wallets disappear. Climate here is different, so treat that as a local data point. Only after sitting overnight so far.

Log the conditions before you spend. Get a real battery/charging test on the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. On “silverado light-throttle shudder: engine or transmission,” that was the fork that mattered for me. The universe charges extra for guessing. If your situation is the opposite, ignore me. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

Tried a second charger / second scan and the story on the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 didn't change. If it repeats twice more I'll book time.

Start with the test that can prove you wrong. Get a real battery/charging test on the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. Update: the cheap test changed the symptom, so I'm not throwing parts yet. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

This is usually cheaper to test than to guess. Two 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500s can feel identical and have different causes, so measure before you copy someone else's repair. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. Take it or leave it — that's what I'd do. A day of patience here is cheaper than a wrong part. I keep a notes app thread for this now.

If it were in my driveway, if a shop can't duplicate it on the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. This is from a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 in Boston / New England with 8,200 miles. Do that first. No warning lights, which is why I'm documenting it.

Log the conditions before you spend. Loaded-suspension checks on the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 catch play that a wheels-hanging inspection misses. Save the big job until that test fails. On “silverado light-throttle shudder: engine or transmission,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Monthly payment math is how wallets disappear. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

Ask what changed right before it started. Swap the cheap/easy piece first on the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and see if the fault moves. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' A day of patience here is cheaper than a wrong part. Only after sitting overnight so far.

Save the big job until that test fails. Had a similar mess a couple years ago and that's what finally sorted it. Wrote this up on my lunch break.
