Question: Payload sticker changed my whole truck-shopping plan

2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTZ 6.2, about 78,000 miles. I was focused on tow rating until I started adding passengers, gear and tongue weight. Now payload looks like the real limit. How much buffer do you personally leave for a family towing setup? Any data points from owners would help.

Don't overfit one forum story to your car. If it still isn't clear on the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, a specialist hour can be cheaper than another round of parts. I'd do that before spending real money. Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

Asking because it changes the advice: Verify the cheap/easy branch on the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 before a big repair or a big spend. Then you'll know the next fork. Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. Your commute and mine probably aren't the same, but the test still applies. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

Time, temperature, and whether it's in gear are the notes that actually help a shop. Not trying to scare you — just skip the expensive first guess. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.
