1987 Porsche 911 — cheap project has enough margin to fix and resell?

I found a running car with cosmetic damage and deferred maintenance at a low price. Before treating it as a flip, how do you budget hidden repairs, title/registration, taxes, transport and selling time? If I figure it out I will update the thread.

Private-party deals fail on paperwork, not vibes. Independent PPI on the 1987 Porsche 911 is cheap insurance versus a seller who “already had a friend look at it.” I'd do that before spending real money. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. Worth doing even if the car feels fine right now. I'll update if anything new shows up.

Don't get cute with the meetup or the payment. Meet at a bank or dealer title office for the 1987 Porsche 911, not a parking lot at night. Then you'll know the next fork. Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. Not wiring anything in the meantime.

I'd treat this like cash with a paper trail. If the 1987 Porsche 911 still shows a lien, coordinate payoff with the lender before any cash changes hands. Then you'll know the next fork. On “cheap project has enough margin to fix,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. That's my plan before I call anyone.
