1990 Ford F-150 — infotainment became glitchy after an OTA update

RotorCommuter84Community StarterJun 30, 20261990 Ford F-150 XLTWashington DC
1990 Ford F-150 XLT, about 204,000 miles. After a software update the screen occasionally reboots and one saved setting keeps resetting. Is there a normal post-update reset procedure owners should try before booking service? I am in Washington DC.

Don't overfit one forum story to your car. If it still isn't clear on the 1990 Ford F-150, a specialist hour can be cheaper than another round of parts. That's where I'd start. This is from a 1990 Ford F-150 in Washington DC with 204,000 miles. Stop there until you know. A day of patience here is cheaper than a wrong part. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

I'd keep this practical. Verify the cheap/easy branch on the 1990 Ford F-150 before a big repair or a big spend. That's where I'd start. This is from a 1990 Ford F-150 in Washington DC with 204,000 miles. When does it actually happen? This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.

Write down what you already tried. A second data point from another 1990 Ford F-150 owner helps more than a generic diagnosis. I'd do that before spending real money. Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

Owner notes beat generic advice here. On the 1990 Ford F-150 in Washington DC, I'd fix the thing you'll notice every day before chasing spec-sheet extras. That's where I'd start. On “150 — infotainment became glitchy after an,” that was the fork that mattered for me. I'd want that in writing, not as a promise. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

I'd keep this practical. Verify the cheap/easy branch on the 1990 Ford F-150 before a big repair or a big spend. Then you'll know the next fork. Time, temperature, and whether it's in gear are the notes that actually help a shop. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

I'd push back a little: If it still isn't clear on the 1990 Ford F-150, a specialist hour can be cheaper than another round of parts. Then you'll know the next fork. Any freeze-frame data saved? If the story changes I'll post the new data.

Agree — and I'd add this: On the 1990 Ford F-150 in Washington DC, I'd fix the thing you'll notice every day before chasing spec-sheet extras. I'd do that before spending real money. On “150 — infotainment became glitchy after an,” that was the fork that mattered for me. That's the whole play. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.
