1990 Ford F-150 — second battery versus portable power station

1990 Ford F-150 XLT, about 211,500 miles. I want reliable fridge/lights/device power for weekend trips without making the vehicle electrical system unnecessarily complicated. When does a hardwired dual-battery setup beat a portable power station? I am in Houston.

Don't overfit one forum story to your car. If it still isn't clear on the 1990 Ford F-150, a specialist hour can be cheaper than another round of parts. Then you'll know the next fork. This is from a 1990 Ford F-150 in Houston with 211,500 miles. That's the whole play. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.
