1998 Lexus LS — new tires are much louder than the old set

Same size and pressure, but the new tires create noticeably more highway hum. Is this usually tread pattern/compound, or should I verify balance and alignment before blaming the tire model?

Write down what you already tried. A second data point from another 1998 Lexus LS owner helps more than a generic diagnosis. Then you'll know the next fork. Any freeze-frame data saved? Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

Don't overfit one forum story to your car. If it still isn't clear on the 1998 Lexus LS, a specialist hour can be cheaper than another round of parts. That's where I'd start. Just my two cents from doing this recently. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

That's a good start, but I wouldn't stop there. If it still isn't clear on the 1998 Lexus LS, a specialist hour can be cheaper than another round of parts. I'd do that before spending real money. If you share a photo of the worksheet, easier to sanity-check. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

I'd keep this practical. Verify the cheap/easy branch on the 1998 Lexus LS before a big repair or a big spend. I'd do that before spending real money. Had a similar mess a couple years ago and that's what finally sorted it. Doing the boring step first on purpose.
