2013 Nissan 370Z — should I negotiate the trade and purchase separately?

I have a trade with some equity and I am buying another car. Dealer wants to talk only in payment numbers.

Walked a dealership this week on the 2013 Nissan 370Z and the doc fee was the tell. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

Compare apples to apples or you'll get spun. Call your insurer in Tampa before you fall in love with the 2013 Nissan 370Z. Do that before you talk monthly again. That's the sequence I'd use. Sleeping on the number either way.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. Two 2013 Nissan 370Z quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Happy to compare notes if your setup is different. Calling insurance in the morning before I reply to the desk.

Same neighborhood, different next step: A written buyer’s order on the 2013 Nissan 370Z is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” If they balk, that's your answer. On “should i negotiate the trade and purchase,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2013 Nissan 370Z in Tampa. Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. This is the filter I use when the thread starts repeating itself. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. I would not wire money until I've seen the 2013 Nissan 370Z and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. That's the whole play. If the story changes I'll post the new data.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. I would not wire money until I've seen the 2013 Nissan 370Z and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. Then the comparison gets honest. This is from a 2013 Nissan 370Z in Tampa. Time, temperature, and whether it's in gear are the notes that actually help a shop. If the title is messy I'm out, full stop.

Hard-won lesson from my last deal: A written buyer’s order on the 2013 Nissan 370Z is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” Do that before you talk monthly again. On “should i negotiate the trade and purchase,” that was the fork that mattered for me. That's the sequence I'd use. If they get vague again I'm shopping the deal elsewhere.

On “should i negotiate the trade and purchase,” that was the fork that mattered for me. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

The trap is a pretty payment hiding a worse car price. If one piece looks too good on the 2013 Nissan 370Z, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. That's the part that actually changes the decision. This is from a 2013 Nissan 370Z in Tampa. Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. Going to compare one more dealer before I decide.

Walk if they won't put it on a buyer’s order. I would not wire money until I've seen the 2013 Nissan 370Z and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. Then the comparison gets honest. Happy to compare notes if your setup is different. Doc fee is the line I'm watching.

I'd want competing paper, not competing stories. Call your insurer in Tampa before you fall in love with the 2013 Nissan 370Z. Do that before you talk monthly again. Happy to compare notes if your setup is different. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

Yes, with one caveat: A written buyer’s order on the 2013 Nissan 370Z is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” If they balk, that's your answer. Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. I'd sleep better after that step, even if it finds nothing. Sleeping on the number either way.

Hard-won lesson from my last deal: Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2013 Nissan 370Z so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. If they balk, that's your answer. On “should i negotiate the trade and purchase,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2013 Nissan 370Z in Tampa. That's the sequence I'd use. If your situation is the opposite, ignore me. I asked for the buyer’s order in email, not a text.

I'd want competing paper, not competing stories. A written buyer’s order on the 2013 Nissan 370Z is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. PPI guy I use is booked until next week, so I'm waiting.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. Two 2013 Nissan 370Z quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. That's the part that actually changes the decision. No need to make it theatrical. If the VIN lookup is clean I'm still doing PPI.

The trap is a pretty payment hiding a worse car price. If they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2013 Nissan 370Z price probably got worse. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. No need to make it theatrical. I've seen both outcomes, which is why I'd test instead of assume. Not letting add-ons ride along because everyone does.

Don't send a deposit on a phone quote. Two 2013 Nissan 370Z quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Had a similar mess a couple years ago and that's what finally sorted it. If the story changes I'll post the new data.

Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. Make the next action something you can finish this week. Not wiring anything in the meantime.

Get the messy numbers in writing first. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2013 Nissan 370Z numbers without them. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “should i negotiate the trade and purchase,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2013 Nissan 370Z in Tampa. Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific.
