2013 Toyota Prius Three — 50k-mile ownership check-in

Crossed 50k miles, so I figured I'd post what has actually broken, what maintenance cost, tire life, fuel economy, annoying quirks and whether I'd buy the same car again. I'd rather test this logically than start replacing parts.

The trap is a pretty payment hiding a worse car price. In Ohio, insurance quotes flipped a 2013 Toyota Prius comparison for me more than the sale price did. Then the comparison gets honest. That's the whole play. Your commute and mine probably aren't the same, but the test still applies. If they only talk monthly I'm walking.

I'd want competing paper, not competing stories. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2013 Toyota Prius numbers without them. If they balk, that's your answer. Happy to compare notes if your setup is different. I'll post OTD once I have two apples-to-apples sheets.

Don't send a deposit on a phone quote. If one piece looks too good on the 2013 Toyota Prius, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Any freeze-frame data saved? Not wiring anything in the meantime.

The trap is a pretty payment hiding a worse car price. If they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2013 Toyota Prius price probably got worse. Then the comparison gets honest. I'd want that in writing, not as a promise. Not letting add-ons ride along because everyone does.

Get the messy numbers in writing first. Ask for out-the-door on the 2013 Toyota Prius with fees, add-ons, and rate on separate lines. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “50k-mile ownership check-in,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2013 Toyota Prius in Ohio. Do that first. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

Walked a dealership this week on the 2013 Toyota Prius and the doc fee was the tell. PPI guy I use is booked until next week, so I'm waiting.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. If one piece looks too good on the 2013 Toyota Prius, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. This is from a 2013 Toyota Prius in Ohio. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. A day of patience here is cheaper than a wrong part. If the title is messy I'm out, full stop.

Not convinced that's the whole story. Two 2013 Toyota Prius quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Did the worksheet show tax yet? Going to compare one more dealer before I decide.

I hear you, though I'd still want a second check. A written buyer’s order on the 2013 Toyota Prius is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. That's the whole play. I'd sleep better after that step, even if it finds nothing. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.
