2017 Hyundai Elantra — 50,000-mile ownership report: what actually broke? — second opinion before I spend money

TruckPilot811Community StarterSep 3, 20262017 Hyundai Elantra SEHouston
This started as a small annoyance and I finally decided to track it down. 2017 Hyundai Elantra SE, about 104,500 miles. I just crossed 50k miles and want to log maintenance, unscheduled repairs, tire life, fuel economy, dealer visits, annoyances and whether I would buy the same car again.

If I were shopping this, if they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2017 Hyundai Elantra price probably got worse. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Stop there until you know. I'll update if anything new shows up.

Fair point. Counterpoint: I would not wire money until I've seen the 2017 Hyundai Elantra and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. Then the comparison gets honest. Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. Your commute and mine probably aren't the same, but the test still applies. Not letting add-ons ride along because everyone does.

Compare apples to apples or you'll get spun. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2017 Hyundai Elantra numbers without them. Do that before you talk monthly again. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. I'd sleep better after that step, even if it finds nothing. I'll post OTD once I have two apples-to-apples sheets.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. If they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2017 Hyundai Elantra price probably got worse. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. A day of patience here is cheaper than a wrong part. If the story changes I'll post the new data.

Get the messy numbers in writing first. Ask for out-the-door on the 2017 Hyundai Elantra with fees, add-ons, and rate on separate lines. Do that before you talk monthly again. On “50,000-mile ownership report: what actually broke? —,” that was the fork that mattered for me. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. This is the filter I use when the thread starts repeating itself. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

Agree — and I'd add this: A written buyer’s order on the 2017 Hyundai Elantra is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” Do that before you talk monthly again. Had a similar mess a couple years ago and that's what finally sorted it. I'd sleep better after that step, even if it finds nothing. PPI guy I use is booked until next week, so I'm waiting.

PPI is scheduled. I'm not depositing until I see the 2017 Hyundai Elantra notes. Doc fee is the line I'm watching.

I hear you, though I'd still want a second check. Call your insurer in Houston before you fall in love with the 2017 Hyundai Elantra. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “50,000-mile ownership report: what actually broke? —,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. I screenshotted the quote for later.

Quick update: a second 2017 Hyundai Elantra quote made the first offer look ordinary. If they get vague again I'm shopping the deal elsewhere.

The trap is a pretty payment hiding a worse car price. If they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2017 Hyundai Elantra price probably got worse. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Just my two cents from doing this recently. Not letting add-ons ride along because everyone does.

Treat this like a math problem, not a vibe. Call your insurer in Houston before you fall in love with the 2017 Hyundai Elantra. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. That's the sequence I'd use. PPI guy I use is booked until next week, so I'm waiting.

Don't send a deposit on a phone quote. If they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2017 Hyundai Elantra price probably got worse. That's the part that actually changes the decision. This is from a 2017 Hyundai Elantra in Houston with 104,500 miles. Just my two cents from doing this recently. Make the next action something you can finish this week. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

I would not stare at the monthly. If one piece looks too good on the 2017 Hyundai Elantra, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. Then the comparison gets honest. I'd want that in writing, not as a promise. Not wiring anything in the meantime.

If I were shopping this, two 2017 Hyundai Elantra quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. Then the comparison gets honest. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.
