2015 BMW 335i — are cars becoming too dependent on one screen or module?

2015 BMW 335i, about 116,500 miles. More basic vehicle functions now route through software and central displays. I like the features, but worry about one electronics failure affecting unrelated systems. Where should physical redundancy remain?

Software recalls make me ask how much of 'driving' lives in a module now. On a 2015 BMW 335i, I'd care more about the remedy and downtime than the press wording. Then you'll know the next fork. On “are cars becoming too dependent on one,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Happy to compare notes if your setup is different. That's my plan before I call anyone.

New-model numbers always look better than curb weight and tire size. If this is a 2027 reveal, I wouldn't map it onto today's 2015 BMW 335i ownership costs yet. I'd do that before spending real money. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

This is from a 2015 BMW 335i in Miami with 116,500 miles. Had a similar mess a couple years ago and that's what finally sorted it. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

Useful. I'll report back after I verify that on my 2015 BMW 335i. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.
