2016 Audi A4 — service history disappears for three years

NewCarPilotCommunity StarterJul 27, 20262016 Audi A4 PremiumPennsylvania
The car has dealer records early in life, then a long blank period, then records again. Seller says maintenance was done independently. Is the gap itself a concern or mostly a reason to inspect condition and ask for receipts? I am in Pennsylvania.

PPI is scheduled. I'm not depositing until I see the 2016 Audi A4 notes. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

I would not stare at the monthly. If one piece looks too good on the 2016 Audi A4, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. Then the comparison gets honest. Had a similar mess a couple years ago and that's what finally sorted it. Make the next action something you can finish this week. If the story changes I'll post the new data.

Hard-won lesson from my last deal: A written buyer’s order on the 2016 Audi A4 is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” If they balk, that's your answer. On “service history disappears for three years,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Just my two cents from doing this recently. I asked for the buyer’s order in email, not a text.

Coming back with numbers — insurance in Pennsylvania changed the 2016 Audi A4 comparison more than the sale price did. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

Compare apples to apples or you'll get spun. A written buyer’s order on the 2016 Audi A4 is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” Do that before you talk monthly again. That's the whole play. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

Asking because it changes the advice: I would not wire money until I've seen the 2016 Audi A4 and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. That's the part that actually changes the decision. This is from a 2016 Audi A4 in Pennsylvania. A shop burned me once by skipping that step. If they only talk monthly I'm walking.

I'd want competing paper, not competing stories. Ask for out-the-door on the 2016 Audi A4 with fees, add-ons, and rate on separate lines. Do that before you talk monthly again. Just my two cents from doing this recently. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

Compare apples to apples or you'll get spun. Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2016 Audi A4 so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. I'd rather be boring and correct. PPI guy I use is booked until next week, so I'm waiting.

I hear you, though I'd still want a second check. Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2016 Audi A4 so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. Climate here is different, so treat that as a local data point. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

OP update: I got two written quotes on the 2016 Audi A4 and the out-the-door gap is bigger than the ads made it look. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

Fair point. Counterpoint: Two 2016 Audi A4 quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. Then the comparison gets honest. Stop there until you know. Not letting add-ons ride along because everyone does.

Insurance and tax belong in the comparison, not as a surprise. Call your insurer in Pennsylvania before you fall in love with the 2016 Audi A4. If they balk, that's your answer. On “service history disappears for three years,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. If GAP is bundled I'm making them unbundle it.

I would not stare at the monthly. In Pennsylvania, insurance quotes flipped a 2016 Audi A4 comparison for me more than the sale price did. Then the comparison gets honest. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.
