2016 Ford Focus — buyer sends a vehicle-history website I have never heard of

DetailScout4Community StarterSep 26, 20252016 Ford Focus STSacramento
Someone interested in my car insists I buy a report from a specific unfamiliar website before they will meet. Is this a common scam pattern and what information should I avoid entering? I would rather test this logically than replace parts. Mileage is about 58,000.

Compare apples to apples or you'll get spun. Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2016 Ford Focus so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. If they balk, that's your answer. Just my two cents from doing this recently. Sleeping on the number either way.

Don't send a deposit on a phone quote. I would not wire money until I've seen the 2016 Ford Focus and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. If the VIN lookup is clean I'm still doing PPI.

I hear you, though I'd still want a second check. Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2016 Ford Focus so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. If they balk, that's your answer. On “buyer sends a vehicle-history website i have,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2016 Ford Focus in Sacramento. Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. I screenshotted the quote for later.

Asking because it changes the advice: I would not wire money until I've seen the 2016 Ford Focus and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. Then the comparison gets honest. Was this after sitting overnight? I've seen both outcomes, which is why I'd test instead of assume. Doc fee is the line I'm watching.

Hard-won lesson from my last deal: Call your insurer in Sacramento before you fall in love with the 2016 Ford Focus. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “buyer sends a vehicle-history website i have,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Not gospel, but it saved me a headache. That's my plan before I call anyone.

If I were shopping this, if one piece looks too good on the 2016 Ford Focus, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. Take it or leave it — that's what I'd do. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

Compare apples to apples or you'll get spun. A written buyer’s order on the 2016 Ford Focus is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. Take it or leave it — that's what I'd do. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. Two 2016 Ford Focus quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Not gospel, but it saved me a headache. If the title is messy I'm out, full stop.
