2017 Audi Q7 — my model year is in a recall article but my VIN is not

News says my model year is involved, but the VIN lookup shows no open recall. Is that usually because only certain build ranges are affected, or can the databases lag? I am in Los Angeles. If I figure it out I will update the thread.

Don't overfit one forum story to your car. If it still isn't clear on the 2017 Audi Q7, a specialist hour can be cheaper than another round of parts. That's where I'd start. Do that first. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

I'd keep this practical. Verify the cheap/easy branch on the 2017 Audi Q7 before a big repair or a big spend. Then you'll know the next fork. Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. Your commute and mine probably aren't the same, but the test still applies. This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.

Agree — and I'd add this: On the 2017 Audi Q7 in Los Angeles, I'd fix the thing you'll notice every day before chasing spec-sheet extras. I'd do that before spending real money. On “my model year is in a recall,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2017 Audi Q7 in Los Angeles. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

Write down what you already tried. A second data point from another 2017 Audi Q7 owner helps more than a generic diagnosis. Then you'll know the next fork. Was this after sitting overnight? Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.
