2017 Hyundai Elantra — check-engine light turned itself off — still scan it? — trying to narrow this down

OldSchoolTunerCommunity StarterJul 16, 20262017 Hyundai Elantra SEHouston
2017 Hyundai Elantra SE, about 69,000 miles. The light was on for two days and then disappeared before I could schedule service. Car feels normal. Is there still likely to be useful stored or pending data if I scan it now?

I wouldn't throw parts yet. Capture voltage while the 2017 Hyundai Elantra is actually failing — after it restarts you've lost the clue. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. This is from a 2017 Hyundai Elantra in Houston with 69,000 miles. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

Start with the test that can prove you wrong. Loaded-suspension checks on the 2017 Hyundai Elantra catch play that a wheels-hanging inspection misses. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. I've seen both outcomes, which is why I'd test instead of assume. I'd rather pay for diagnosis than a second guess-repair.

If it were in my driveway, capture voltage while the 2017 Hyundai Elantra is actually failing — after it restarts you've lost the clue. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. I'd want that in writing, not as a promise. If it repeats twice more I'll book time.

It did check-engine light turned itself off — still twice this week, both times after sitting. No change in mileage feel. Not driving it hard until I know more.

I hear you, though I'd still want a second check. Two 2017 Hyundai Elantras can feel identical and have different causes, so measure before you copy someone else's repair. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. On “check-engine light turned itself off — still,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. If it repeats twice more I'll book time.
