2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee — catalyst efficiency code but car drives normally

A catalyst efficiency code came back after clearing once. The car drives normally and there are no misfire codes. Before condemning the catalytic converter, what sensor/data checks are worth doing? I am trying to get the facts straight before spending money. Mileage is about 58,000.

I wouldn't throw parts yet. Loaded-suspension checks on the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee catch play that a wheels-hanging inspection misses. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. A shop burned me once by skipping that step. I'd rather pay for diagnosis than a second guess-repair.

I'd want a measurement, not a hunch. Move a coil or plug on the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. When does it actually happen? I'd sleep better after that step, even if it finds nothing. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

That's a good start, but I wouldn't stop there. If a shop can't duplicate it on the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. This is from a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee in Nashville. Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. Not interested in a five-hour wait for a shrug.
