2017 Nissan Altima — two-post lift in a residential garage

UsedCarGarage59Community StarterApr 3, 20262017 Nissan Altima 2.5 SVTexas
Ceiling height looks workable, but I am more worried about slab thickness, concrete strength, anchor layout and garage-door tracks. What measurements should be confirmed before shopping lifts?

Log the conditions before you spend. Get a real battery/charging test on the 2017 Nissan Altima, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. On “two-post lift in a residential garage,” that was the fork that mattered for me. That's the sequence I'd use. If your situation is the opposite, ignore me. Happens in gear, not in park, for what that's worth.

I wouldn't throw parts yet. If a shop can't duplicate it on the 2017 Nissan Altima, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. No need to make it theatrical. Your commute and mine probably aren't the same, but the test still applies. Next check is the cheap one I can do in a driveway.

Start with the test that can prove you wrong. Get a real battery/charging test on the 2017 Nissan Altima, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. Save the big job until that test fails. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

Same neighborhood, different next step: If a shop can't duplicate it on the 2017 Nissan Altima, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. Save the big job until that test fails. This is from a 2017 Nissan Altima in Texas. Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. I keep a notes app thread for this now.

This is usually cheaper to test than to guess. Move a coil or plug on the 2017 Nissan Altima if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. Save the big job until that test fails. No need to make it theatrical. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

That's a good start, but I wouldn't stop there. Get a real battery/charging test on the 2017 Nissan Altima, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. Save the big job until that test fails. Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. That's coming from doing this as an owner, not a shop. I'd rather pay for diagnosis than a second guess-repair.
