2018 Cadillac CTS-V — intermittent hesitation pulling away from a stop

WeekendGarageCommunity StarterJul 12, 20262018 Cadillac CTS-VHouston
Every few days the car hesitates for a split second leaving a stop, then drives normally. No permanent warning light. I want to know what data to capture the next time it happens. I am trying not to assume the first explanation I see online.

I'd want a measurement, not a hunch. If a shop can't duplicate it on the 2018 Cadillac CTS-V, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. Stop there until you know. This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.

I'd want a measurement, not a hunch. Move a coil or plug on the 2018 Cadillac CTS-V if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. Save the big job until that test fails. Stop there until you know. Not trying to scare you — just skip the expensive first guess. Only after sitting overnight so far.

This is usually cheaper to test than to guess. If a shop can't duplicate it on the 2018 Cadillac CTS-V, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. A shop burned me once by skipping that step. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

This is from a 2018 Cadillac CTS-V in Houston. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' I'd rather pay for diagnosis than a second guess-repair.

Cleared nothing. I want service to see the alert on the 2018 Cadillac CTS-V first. I'd rather pay for diagnosis than a second guess-repair.

It did v — intermittent hesitation pulling away from twice this week, both times after sitting. No change in mileage feel. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

Intermittent stuff lies if you only catch it once. If a shop can't duplicate it on the 2018 Cadillac CTS-V, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. That's the branch I'd chase this week. On “v — intermittent hesitation pulling away from,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Happy to compare notes if your setup is different. Not interested in a five-hour wait for a shrug.

Intermittent stuff lies if you only catch it once. Swap the cheap/easy piece first on the 2018 Cadillac CTS-V and see if the fault moves. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. On “v — intermittent hesitation pulling away from,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2018 Cadillac CTS-V in Houston. When does it actually happen? Climate here is different, so treat that as a local data point. Parking it somewhere I can hear it better next time.

I wouldn't throw parts yet. Move a coil or plug on the 2018 Cadillac CTS-V if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. I've seen both outcomes, which is why I'd test instead of assume. I refuse to clear codes until someone else sees them.
